Actil - Since 1942

First established in Woodville in 1942, Australian Cotton Textile Industries (ACTIL) has been a leading player in the Australian textile market since its inception. Initially playing a vital role in the war effort, the Company became the first to produce Australian made bedlinen later in the 1940's.

When Actil launched First Line sheets and pillowcases, they quickly developed a loyal consumer following. This authentic hotel quality sheeting story is 100% cotton and woven to form a uniquely durable cloth that is tailored and gutsy. The fabric gets softer and smoother with every wash – making it the first choice for leading hotels and generations of Australian homemakers.

Offering fresh, desirable and enduring designs at great prices, today Actil remains a leading brand for bed and bath in Australia with a consumer awareness of over 85%. Whilst First Line continues to be the original unique offer, the collection now also includes sophisticated Actil Home designs in luxurious weaves and embroideries, and feminine Vintage inspired florals for the modern family home. The Hotel collection is inspired by the five-star quality of your favourite hotel.

In store, the appearance of Actil has also changed – with fresh new packaging to reflect our more contemporary positioning and closer working relationships with our retailers to make sure your shopping experience is as pleasant and informative as possible.

In November 2005, Sheridan Pty Ltd (and its brands Sheridan and Actil) was acquired by Pacific Brands, Australia's leading manager of consumer brands. Pacific Brands markets some of the most recognised brands including Berlei, Bonds, Holeproof, King Gee, Slazenger, Sleepmaker, Tontine and now Sheridan and Actil.
